Dear Members of the Academy,
It's time to start thinking about what new and exciting sexual science you want to hear about at next year's meeting! Our 2019 meeting will take place in Mexico City. Specific dates will follow as soon as possible, but we are looking at dates in mid to late July, 2019. The Scientific Program Committee (SPC) will meet in Madrid to set the agenda for most of the 2019 meeting.
Submit your proposals for symposia (3-4 speakers per 90 min session) and plenary sparkers (including the Richard Green Founding President Annual Presentation) by July 3, 2018
Submit proposals online via the standardized submission form by the July 3 deadline. For full details on the application, a PDF guide has been created. In brief, you will be asked to provide a list of potential speaker(s), their geographic region, whether they are IASR members or not, topics that the speaker(s) will cover, a brief summary of why the proposed plenary/symposium speaker is innovative and relevant to the Academy, whether the proposed speaker has presented at the Academy in the past two years, and whether you have confirmed the speaker's attendance. Abstracts (max 300 words) are also required.
For those submitting plenary speaker proposals, please also consider both Academy and non-Academy members for the Richard Green Founding President Speaker Award. This is a great opportunity for us to hear from non-members by taking advantage of the money generously donated by Richard Green. For more information about this opportunity, please see the award description on our website.
Note on selection of proposals:
The SPC takes a number of factors into consideration when evaluating proposals, including the novelty of the proposal (e.g. have we heard this speaker/topic in the past few years?) and the cost of bringing non-member speakers in (because IASR offsets some travel costs). The SPC is tasked with creating a diverse scientific program, but it relies heavily on proposals from the membership. If there's something you really want to hear about at our next meeting, submit a proposal!
